Boone County Fair

On the last weekend before school started we attended the Boone County Fair. Savannah had a ton of fun riding the kid rides and playing carnival games. Daddy manage to win her a hermit crab. We now are the proud owner of three hermit crabs. She named the newest hermit crab Mr. Tickles. It  had just rained moments before we arrived so it was hot all day with high humidity. We stayed there for a whopping 5 hours. We went to the petting zoo, walked around and saw a vast number of farm animals. We saw horses, cows, sheep's, pigs, and goats.  It was a cool experience to be able to touch some of the animals and get up close to them. It was very educational.

Back to School

Savannah is back to school after another fun filled summer. She is currently in the 1st grade with Mrs Randl. She is loving her new classroom, teacher and friends. She has few students in her class from last year. This helped her feel more at ease on the first day. She told me she had butterflies in her stomach. I was just as nervous on the first day. She rode the bus and was super excited to see her friend Peyton. The girls sit together on the days that Savannah takes the bus.

Festival Park

Towards the end of summer break we headed over to Festival Park to the splash pad and park. The kids had a great time and we met up with a bunch of friends. It was a beautiful day!

Family Reunion in Nauvoo

The family came together this year for a mini family reunion in Nauvoo, IL. My parents arrived on Thursday afternoon along with the Scheele family. We camped at the Wildcat State campground. I came down first thing on Saturday morning. I had a rough night the day before with very little sleep. I'm not accustomed to driving long distances alone. I was a bit concerned about the drive but made it safely to Nauvoo with the kids in tow. My husband had to work during the day and met up with us that evening for the Nauvoo pageant. We visited the sites in Nauvoo during the day. It was hot all weekend long and we came back to eat lunch and than hit up the pool. We went to dinner at a Chinese buffet and than headed over to the country fair and pageant. On Sunday we went over to the Carthage jail and went on a tour. We went to a park with the kids and enjoyed an ice cream treat. We came back and went swimming. Afterwards we had a cookout and enjoyed some quality family time together. On Monday we all packed up and the Scheele's hit the road early. Frank and I went to visit the temple grounds with my parents. Frank left early and went back to work an hour later. We visited the Community Christ visitor center, grave site for Joseph Smith. We did a little shopping in town and ate lunch. We headed home afterwards. It was a great time and I was honored to be able to spend time with my family. Families are forever.
