To My Surprise Baby #2

To my surprise my little family continues to grow. Without even knowing that I was pregnant back in June I miscarried a baby. It hit me like a ton of bricks. To first hear that I was pregnant and than to learn moments later that I had suffered a miscarriage. I have been wanting another child for the past two years and immediately broke into tears. The news about being pregnant came as a real shock to me. Things have never been the same after having gone thru chemotherapy. I knew that I was pre menopausal and I wasn't sure if I could ever get pregnant again. After the miscarriage happened we stopped actively trying to have another baby. Low and behold did I realize that I became pregnant again in September. I couldn't shake this strong feeling that I kept having about how there was another baby up in heaven for me. The spirit must have been trying to speak to me. I was already carrying another baby and didn't even know it. I had missed a few periods and in the beginning I just thought that was normal until the third month passed by and still nothing. I started thinking that I was heading into menopause. My pants started to not fit and I was getting very frustrated. I just blamed it on the fact that I was getting older and my body was probably starting to go through some changes. Frank made a comment to me about how my stomach was starting to pooch out and suggested I go get a pregnancy test. He picked one up for me on Christmas Eve while we were visiting my parents in Tennessee. My curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to put this thought to rest. I was convinced that I was NOT pregnant. I took the test and to my surprise I really was pregnant. I was once again overwhelmed and called Frank into the bathroom and shared my news. He was so excited about the baby news and I was freaked out once again and started crying. I had a hard time keeping this secret to myself but the very next morning I wrapped up part of the pregnancy stick and had my parents open this up on Christmas morning as the final present. My mom was a little clueless at first and thought it was some kind of thermometer. My dad realized what it was and called it a pregnancy test. They both quickly caught on and were both overjoyed when they learned that I was pregnant. My dad said that it was the best present he received this year for Christmas. My sisters all seemed very surprised especially Lara. I had mentioned it to her the day before while we were shopping that it may be possible but quickly convinced her it was nothing. This pregnancy has been very different from the first one. So far a very low key pregnancy. I literally went 15 weeks and didn't even know I was pregnant. Looking back I probably did notice little signs but was too oblivious to recognize signs that I was pregnant. The first two pregnancies were intentional and this last one was a surprise. We recently found out we are having a baby BOY! Savannah really wanted a baby sister and was disappointed at first. We have been getting her used to the idea of a baby brother. She is going to make a great big sister. My due date is June 18th. Frank and his older kids all seem excited about the baby news! I will be 20 weeks on Tuesday and am looking forward to this newest adventure in my life. I am a little nervous about raising a baby boy!

Tree Lighting at the Woodstock Square

Grandma and Grandpa Nichols came up to visit for Thanksgiving. We headed down to Woodstock, IL to see the lighting of Time Square. This is the square where the movie Ground Hogs Day was filmed. It was freezing cold outside and we didn't stay very long. We did spend time with Sabrina and her family and Auntie Denise and Hayden and Landon. We came home and drank some yummy hot chocolate.

Sunbeam Beauty

Savannah recently graduated from Nursery and just started attending Primary. She was very excited about her first day! My baby girl is getting so big. I absolutely love watching her grow up strong in the gospel. She is learning so much each and every Sunday. I can't wait to hear about what she has learned in class. Her teacher Sister Green is an awesome Sunbeam teacher. She is a new sister in our ward and enjoys magnifying her new calling. Savannah has three other girls in her class and a single boy. She just loves the learning Primary songs and is currently learning to sing "I am a Child of God". She loves singing "Chose the Right Way" in the car. She is a little antsy in Sharing time and likes to run around and doesn't sit still very long. The Primary leaders continue working with her and she is getting better every week. She still wants to go back to Nursery. She is fine once she gets settled into Primary. It is a little struggle at first but she seems to eventually calm down after awhile. It's a big transition but we are so proud of our little Sunbeam!!!
