Family Reunion in Nauvoo

The family came together this year for a mini family reunion in Nauvoo, IL. My parents arrived on Thursday afternoon along with the Scheele family. We camped at the Wildcat State campground. I came down first thing on Saturday morning. I had a rough night the day before with very little sleep. I'm not accustomed to driving long distances alone. I was a bit concerned about the drive but made it safely to Nauvoo with the kids in tow. My husband had to work during the day and met up with us that evening for the Nauvoo pageant. We visited the sites in Nauvoo during the day. It was hot all weekend long and we came back to eat lunch and than hit up the pool. We went to dinner at a Chinese buffet and than headed over to the country fair and pageant. On Sunday we went over to the Carthage jail and went on a tour. We went to a park with the kids and enjoyed an ice cream treat. We came back and went swimming. Afterwards we had a cookout and enjoyed some quality family time together. On Monday we all packed up and the Scheele's hit the road early. Frank and I went to visit the temple grounds with my parents. Frank left early and went back to work an hour later. We visited the Community Christ visitor center, grave site for Joseph Smith. We did a little shopping in town and ate lunch. We headed home afterwards. It was a great time and I was honored to be able to spend time with my family. Families are forever.

Hunter's 2nd Birthday

We celebrated with a family party. We had a family bbq and luckily we had most of the food cooked before it started raining. We all gathered inside the house.  Hunter loved all his gifts. Mommy baked him a cake and Savannah helped frost the cake.

We love our little guy! We are so happy to have you in our family. Here's to many more happy memories!!

Kohl's Children Museum

A couple of weeks ago we headed over to the Kohl's Museum. It was raining outside and was the perfect indoor activity with the kids. The museum was a bit crowded and we lost Savannah briefly at one point during our visit. The kids had fun exploring, learning and using their imagination when role playing.

Rollerskating Night

Summer is currently in full swing now that school is over. We decided on a mommy/daughter date to the roller rink. This was Savannah's second time learning how to skate. The place the pretty dead that night so we had the whole rink to ourselves. We arrived earlier that day and the workers there told me they were closing down in 30 minutes and would re -open in an hour and a half. Savannah was resistant to leave at first but we ended up going to shopping for Hunter's birthday. We stopped afterwards for some ice cream from Dairy Queen. We had a good time skating and we even came home with a few free passes. We became friends with the staff members while we were there. Savannah made friends with a boy her own age that night. The kids had a blast skating around with each other.
